Meeting InformationMeetings of the Kern County Historical Society are held monthly between September and May, with the exception of December. The meetings feature speakers on subjects pertaining to county history, historical sites, and Kern lore. Field trips are led by experts well acquainted with the sites. Meetings and field trips are open to members, guests and the general public.
May Meeting“Traditional Tails: Portraits of Kern County Pets and Their People” Date: Saturday, May 15, 2010 Our guest speaker for the May meeting is Sarah Woodman, Public Program Manager at the Kern County Museum. Sarah will discuss her upcoming book titled, “Traditional Tails: Portraits of Kern County Pets and Their People”. The book featuring photographs from the Kern County Museum’s collection highlights the unique and varied pets Kern County residents held dear over the past 130 years. Sarah Woodman has been with the Kern County Museum for three years. Prior to her current position, she was the Education Coordinator at the Fort Morgan Museum in Colorado. She has a BA degree in History from Scripps College and an MA degree from the Winterthur Program in Early American Culture at the University of Delaware. She also holds her Museum Studies Certificate from the University of Delaware. Reservations due by Friday, May 7, 2010 Please observe the reservation deadline, and get your reservation in early. If you make your reservations by phone, please send your check for the full amount by the reservation deadline. Because of the time frame for ordering the food, we cannot honor late reservations.
