Meeting Information

Meetings of the Kern County Historical Society are held monthly between September and May, with the exception of December. The meetings feature speakers on subjects pertaining to county history, historical sites, and Kern lore. Field trips are led by experts well acquainted with the sites. Meetings and field trips are open to members, guests and the general public.

Curtis Darling’s Postcard Collection, Part II

Jeff Nickell will present a fascinating glimpse at a portion of Curtis Darling’s collection of historic postcards. The postcards depict various scenes throughout Bakersfield and Kern County documenting decades of Kern County history. The luncheon will consist of a delicious banquet served family style at Bill Lee’s Bamboo Chopsticks.

Jeff Nickell is the Assistant Director of the Kern County Museum. Jeff was born and raised in Bakersfield. He attended East Bakersfield High School. He received his Bachelors and Masters of Arts degrees in Sociology from California State University, Bakersfield. Jeff served as the President of the Kern County Historical Society from 2003 – 2005. He is currently serving on the Board of the Bakersfield Racquet Club. Jeff served as the President of the Racquet Club in 2006. Jeff is currently the Vice President of the Kern County Human Relations Commission.
