Meeting InformationMeetings of the Kern County Historical Society are held monthly between September and May, with the exception of December. The meetings feature speakers on subjects pertaining to county history, historical sites, and Kern lore. Field trips are led by experts well acquainted with the sites. Meetings and field trips are open to members, guests and the general public.
April MeetingElisha Stevens Date: Saturday, April 18, 2009 Timothy Lemucchi will discuss Elisha Stevens history in Kern County before showing a documentary film titled “Forgotten Journey”. The film details Stevens’ 1844 journey from Missouri to California. Stevens, who was captain of the party, lead the first group of wagons across the Plains to California in search of gold. The group led by Stevens arrived in northern California. Timothy Lemucchi has practiced law in Bakersfield since 1965. Mr. Lemucchi attended Stanford University earning Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees. He earned his law degree from Georgetown University Law School in 1965. Over the years, Mr. Lemucchi has taught at Bakersfield College, University of California at Santa Barbara Extension, Hastings College of Advocacy and California Trial Lawyers’ Association. Timothy Lemucchi has forty years' experience in civil and criminal litigation in municipal and superior courts of Kern, Los Angeles, Fresno, Tulare and Kings Counties as well as the United States Central District Court in Fresno. He has conducted over one hundred and thirty jury trials during his career. Reservations due by Friday, April 10, 2009 Please observe the reservation deadline, and get your reservation in early.
