Meeting InformationMeetings of the Kern County Historical Society are held monthly between September and May, with the exception of December. The meetings feature speakers on subjects pertaining to county history, historical sites, and Kern lore. Field trips are led by experts well acquainted with the sites. Meetings and field trips are open to members, guests and the general public.
Febrary MeetingTour of the B.H.S. Archives: Come See Where the Magic Happens! Date: Saturday, February 25, 2012 View the historical artifacts, photographs, and documents as students of Bakersfield High School’s CEO Academy archiving classes preserve, interpret, and educate the community on the oldest high school in Kern County. Take a tour of the archiving room and view some of our tens of thousands of photographs, thumb through yearbooks dating back to 1899, and see Chief Justice Earl Warren’s high school course work and grades. Receive an update on the CEO Academy’s collaboration on the Kern Veterans Memorial, the results of our Japanese American Diploma Project, and see how we can help you on your family research projects. Ken Hooper has been a teacher in the Kern High School District for 23 years, the historian for the Kern Veterans Memorial Foundation, and is the current president of the Kern County Historical Society. Reservations due by Friday, February 17, 2012 Please observe the reservation deadline, and get your reservation in early. If you make your reservations by phone, please send your check for the full amount by the reservation deadline. Because of the time frame for ordering the food, we cannot honor late reservations.
